PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of fuel consumption and as well generation of noise upon two-wheel-drive in a four-wheel drive vehicle having an automatic locking clutch, by displaying the condition of engagement of an automatic locking clutch. CONSTITUTION:Upon four-wheel-drive an automatic locking clutch 24 automatically locks to rotate a front wheel axle shaft 23 integrally with a wheel hub secured to a front wheel 25. Further, the vehicle is switched into its two-wheel- drive mode to move backward so that the above-mentioned locking is released. A display means 30 for indicating a predetetermined indication is provided to a vehicle body 1 in the vicinity of the driver's compartment. When, in accordance with a signal from a rotational speed detecting means 18 or a vehicle speed detecting means, a first judging device 32 and a second judging device 33 in a control means 31 judge the engagement of the automatic locking clutch 24, they issue signals to be indicated on the display means 30.
