NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R1 is H, halogen, lower alkyl, lower acyl; R2, R3 are H, lower alkyl; Y is alkylene chain; m is 0, 1; n is 1, 2). EXAMPLE:3-[2-(2-Thienyl)ethyl]-2,4-oxazolidinedione. USE:Antiulcerative: it is used in prevention and treatment for stomach and duodenal ulcers. PREPARATION:The reaction between a compound of formula II and another compound of formula III (Z is halogen, 1-imidazolyl, lower alkoxyl) is followed by ring closure to give the compound of formula I . The reaction is preferably conducted by dissolving the compound of formula II in an inert solvent such as benzene or toluene, adding an equimolar or a little excessive amount of N,N'- carbonyldiimidazole thereto and heating them.
