PURPOSE:To prevent the dyeing of a material to be dyed with a formazan compound which is a dyestuff produced by reduction of a tetrazolium salt, by using a formazan compound, containing gelatin as an active constituent, and having a specific partial structure. CONSTITUTION:A formazan compound, containing gelatin as an active constituent, and having a partial structure expressed by the formula is used. The particularly effective gelatin has 20,000-150,000 average molecular weight, but any gelatin may be used as long as the gelatin has the action similar to that of the above-mentioned gelatin. Thus, the solubility of the formazan compound in water is improved to prevent the dyeing with the formazan compound.
