A protective covering for lavatory seats in the form of a tubular film is provided on its inside with a friction-reducing coating, so that it causes only slight friction when pulled onto the lavatory seat and thus its damage can be avoided. In a preferred process, a dust-like friction-reducing agent is blown onto the inner surface of the tubular film, which is cooled after extrusion but is still tacky. In a device for carrying out the process according to the invention, the haul-off device of a haul-off plug provided on the blown film die is used as a pipe for blowing in the friction-reducing agent.
