PURPOSE:To allow a CPU to execute other processing even at rapid traversing or rewinding of a magnetic tape by transmitting an interruption signal to the CPU to allow the CPU to execute the processing when the tape is in the reproduction, rapid traversing or rewinding state. CONSTITUTION:A switch is changed over to the position of contacts 23a, 26a at data reproduction. Then a pluse edge detecting circuit 25 detects the first leading edge of each bit data, supplied it to a delay timer circuit 27 and when a prescribed time is elapsed, an interruption signal is given to the CPU1 to execute reading of data. On the other hand, the switch is changed over to the position of contacts 23b, 26b at rapid traversing or rewinding, the detection circuit 25 detects the leading edge of a pulse data and gives this edge detection signal to the CPU1 as the interruption signal. The CPU1 counts the interruption signal, obtains the number of data blocks to conduct program search. Thus, the CPU1 performs other processing between the said interruptions.
