PURPOSE:To input normally an image, by detecting the fluctuation of a supply voltage above a specified value and controlling a paper feeding process and image reading process in accordance with the detected result. CONSTITUTION:A power source section 1 produces the operating power source of each section of an image input device. Of the operating power sources, for example, DC 24V used for a pulse motor and image reading light source is given to a voltage detecting circuit 2. The voltage detecting circuit 2 always compares the 24V voltage with a prefixed specific voltage and, if the 24V voltage from the power source section 1 drops from the specific voltage while the circuit 2 receives a signal indicating that a reading operation is made from a processor 6, sends a stop request signal to a pulse motor controlling circuit 3 and quantization circuit 4.
