PURPOSE:To provide a detachable small light wt. torque sensor showing high detection accuracy, constituted by arranging an exciting coil and a detection coil to the opening of a bearing slide surface in a crossing direction. CONSTITUTION:An opening 20a formed by notching a bearing slide surface is provided to a bearing metal 20 and an opening 14a provided in communication with the opening 20a is provided to a bearing cap 14. An exciting core 24 having an exciting coil wound therearound is inserted into and fixed to the openings 14a, 20a while a detection core 28 having a detection coil 26 wound therearound is inserted into and arranged to the inner periphery of the exciting core 24 in the direction crossing the exciting core 24 at right angles. When an AC current is supplied to the exciting coil 22, almost parallel magnetic fluxes are pierced through a drive shaft alternately and changed by the internal stress based on the torque of the drive shaft. In this case, the signal from the detection core 28 present within the change in magnetic flux distribution is detected by a coil 26 and torque is detected in a non-contact state with high accuracy.
