PURPOSE:To obtain a color image superior in density, fastness, etc., by processing a silver halide color photosensitive material contg. 4-mercapto-5-pyrazoline type magenta coupler with a developing soln. contg. a specified phosphonic acid or carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide color photosensitive material contains 4-mercapto- 5-pyrazoline type magenta coupler represented by formula I in which W is aryl; X is alkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic; and Y is acylamino, ureido, or anilino; such as formula II. A color image superior in light and heat resistances and fastness, etc., can be obtained with high color developing efficiency by imagewise exposing said material and processing it with a color developing soln. contg. in a concn. of >=5X10<-3>mol/l, a compd. selected from aminopolyphosphonic acid or phosphonocarboxylic acid represented by formula III or IV in which (n) is 1 or 2; R is lower alkyl; and M is H, an alkali metal, or ammonium.
