PURPOSE:To extend the service life of a cooling fan and also to prevent the design of the titled amplifier being larger in size by providing the cooling fan activated by at least either of a fault detecting signal of a fault detecting element connected to each power amplifier and a signal generated when a temperature sensor detects a prescribed temperature or over. CONSTITUTION:The cooling fan 2 is not in operation at normal state, but if a power amplifier 1 is faulty, a fault detecting circuit 3 detects the fault and allows a control circuit 4 to remove the faulty power amplifier 1 so that the output of the faulty power amplifier 1 does not give affect onto other sound power amplifiers 1 and also drive the cooling fan. Thus, the amplifier device copes quickly with the fault before the temperature rise is caused. If the ambient temperature of the power amplifier device or the internal temperature rises to a prescribed value or over, the temperature sensor 5 detects the temperature rise and activates the cooling fan. Through the operations above, the temperature rise of the power amplifier device 6, the temperature rise of power elements especially is suppressed effectively even under a tight operating condition.
