PURPOSE:A composite composition for a wet friction material, having a steadily high coefficient of friction and excellent wear resistance, comprising a fluoroelastomer (matrix) containing a porous material, etc. CONSTITUTION:20-60wt% fluoroelastomer (A) (e.g. a tetrafluoroethylene propylene copolymer), 15-50wt% carbon black (B), 5-50wt% porous irregular-shaped particles and/or fibers (C) (e.g. sponge iron, diatomaceous earth, and silica fibers with the Vickers hardness of about 500 or less), and 3-12wt% vulcanizing agent and additive (D), are mixed by stirring, which are molded with heat and pressure, and then heat treated to give a product having a porosity of about 2-45%.
