PURPOSE:The titled composition giving a molded article with excellent fusion bonding characteristics and extensibility, obtained by expanding a thermoplastic resin containing a saturated medium-chain fatty acid triglyceride using a specified foaming agent. CONSTITUTION:Particles of a thermoplastic resin such as PS or a styrene-methyl (meth)acrylate copolymer are dispersed to form an aqueous suspension. 1- 10wt% foaming agent comprising a hydrocarbon having a boiling point lower than the melting point of this resin (e.g. butane) and 0.3-2.5wt% saturated medium-chain (7-12C) fatty acid triglyceride (e.g. caprylic triglyceride) are added to the dispersion, and are stirred to infiltrate into the resin particles, which are washed with water and dried to give the expandable thermoplastic resin particle composition.
