PURPOSE:To provide the titled device to prevent the damages of a strip by calculating the tip end position of a strip from the slipping quantity of a pinch roller and strip, and the rotating speed of a unit roller and the strip position, etc. of after passing of a unit roller and by avoiding the collision against a unit roller. CONSTITUTION:A respective pulse signal corresponding to the rotation angle or rotation speed of a pinch roller 2 from a rotation detector 18 and that corresponding to the rotation angle or the rotation speed of a mandrel 1 from a rotation detector 19 are transmitted. Also from a temp. detector 21 a signal of a high temp. strip 4 passing through a unit roller 5 and from an acceleration detector 21, a signal corresponding to the acceleration of a roller 5 are respectively transmitted. Next each signal is calculated 16, and the time when the tip end of the strip comes to the position of the following roller 5 is informed. Then using the calculated result, each roller 5a, 5b is released just before the tip end of the strip arriving at each position of each roller, 5a, 5b by the controlling mechanism consisting of a control unit 15, a hydraulic equipment 14 and a hydraulic cylinder 11, etc. to avoid the strip's step difference to collide against the roller 5.
