PURPOSE:To suppress uncomfortable images and to obtain the natural rise of a image by fading a video signal for a fixed period at the ON of a power supply, at the switching of power saving, etc. by a fading circuit for suppressing the amplitude of the video signal and a computer. CONSTITUTION:An object is converted into an electric signal by an image pickup tube 1 through a lens. A video signal is separated into a luminance signal component and a chromatic signal component by a video signal separating circuit 3 through an amplifier 2. Respective components are processed by a luminance signal processing circuit 4 and a chromatic signal processing circuit respectively and converted into a prescribed video signal by a video signal output circuit 7 through a correcting circuit 6 for executing correction and aparture correction and forming a hue signal or the like and the video signal is outputted from a video signal output terminal 8. A fading circuit for suppressing the video signal by about 40dB is included in the circuit 7. The fading circuit is controlled by a system control microcomputer 9 on the basis of a signal from a power saving switching terminal 11 or a VTR reproducing input terminal 12 to fade the video signal when a high voltage system is unstable.
