PURPOSE:To make it possible to facilitate the check of a program by displaying wire electrode paths on the upper and lower surfaces of a workpiece, and as well by displaying the cross-sectioned shape of the workpiece which are obtained by sectioning the workpiece with planes that are parallel with the lower surface of the workpiece to facilitate the grasp of the machined shape of the workpiece. CONSTITUTION:A machined shape displaying method in a wire-cut electric discharge machining device, has steps of storing as input data, a programmed path WDP on the lower surface of the workpiece, the thickness T of the workpiece, tapered angles alpha1, alpha2, alpha3 of blocks b1, b2, b3, vector deviations (u1, v1), (u2, v2), (u3, v3) between the upper and lower surfaces of the workpiece, and data for specifying the number of cross-sectioned shape BB', CC', DD' which are obtained by sectioning the workpieces with planes that are parallel with the lower surfaces of the workpiece, and of obtaining the wire electrode path WUP on one of the upper and lower surface of the workpiece which is not a programmed surface. Further, there are provided steps of obtaining the coordinates of one end of each block with the use of the wire electrode paths and the cross-sectioned shapes of the workpiece, and of displaying the wire electrode paths and the cross-sectioned shapes.
