SOLID-STATE IMAGE PICKUP ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the vertical resolution of a solid-state image pickup element, by flowing the output of a horizontal transferring channel to an overflowing drain at every second line synchronously to the input to the horizontal transferring channel. CONSTITUTION:An overflowing drain C is formed along a horizontal transferring channel B. A vertical transferring channel D is set to the transfer mode during the horizontal blanking period and the horizontal transferring channel B is set to the transfer mode in a horizontal video signal section. Since the combination of two lines of picked-up image outputs to be transferred is changed for odd fields and even fields, unncessary picked-up image outputs are thrown to the overflowing drain C and only necessary picked-up image outputs are led out with their time axis not being changed.
