PURPOSE:To eliminate black lines produced on the 1st sheet or owing to the scan variance by using the adjacent picture elemnt information to control the quantity of light under irradiation and simultaneously projecting the light beam quantity more on the 2nd and subsequent sheets than the 1st sheet. CONSTITUTION:The picture information is stored successively to shift registers 26-28, and each of these registers can store the picture information equivalent to a line. A TR36 is turned on and off according to the picture element information 29 defined as the exposure information or the non-exposure information. Thus a semiconductor laser 38 is driven with control. In this case, a deciding circuit 30 is actuated when the picture element information adjacent to the information 29 are all defined as exposure information. Then the TR32 is turned on to increase the drive current of the laser 38 via a resistance 34. When the 1st sheet is recorded, a changeover switch 35 is turned on to increase the drive current of the laser 38. The switch 35 is turned off for the 2nd and subsequent sheets.
