The device for the transfer of material between a liquid flowing downwards and a counter current gas comprises a plurality of superposed plates (1, 2, 3) in a pressure container (19). The liquid forms a hydrostatically continuous column from the upper level down to the lower tapping level. This column is affected by gas bubbles only in the contact areas with the gas, but is never interrupted. An immersion bell (9, 10, 11) is preferably located under each plate. |
