The molten mineral material flows to the plant which comprises a fast rotating cylindrical body. Fibres are thrown out and are guided by a gas stream to a moving collector surface which is gas permeable. Air currents remove fibre webs in such a way that the wet weight/area is reduced. Subsequently the web speed can be reduced so that the weight per unit area can be increased up to more than double. The web is then folded, heat treated, cooled and divided up into the required pieces.
