PURPOSE:To make highly accurate propagation control for feed securable, by propagating an expansion variation in an electrostrictive material available for feed position control with a precision guide, in case of a device which gives feed to a tool. CONSTITUTION:A long stroke feed motor 2 is installed in a head part 1. And, an electrostrictive material 4 is locked to a nose of a spindle 3 to be fed by the motor 2, expanding or contracting in an axial direction, and a guide 5 is installed in a connecting part with the spindle 3, while another guide 6 is tightly attached to one side of tip ends as well. In addition, a bearing 9 is interposed between a member 8 forming a guide surface to be paralleled with a shaft extended from the spindle 3 and top and bottom guides 5 and 6, Therefore, even in case the electrostrictive material 4 is varied in size, these two end guides 5 and 6 travel on a guide surface of the member 8 under guidance of the bearing 9 so that a support plate 7 to be propagated in a direction according with the shaft all the time can be driven, thus a machining gap is controllable in a highly accurate manner. |
