PURPOSE:To provide the titled resin compsn. containing petroleum resin and a specified polyester and having high fluidity in a molten state, good color tone and high strength. CONSTITUTION:A polyester as fluidity improver is prepared by condensation of 1mol of alpha-olefin glycol obtained by epoxidization and hydrolysis of a 10C or higher alpha-olefin [e.g. of the formula (where R is 16C or higher alkyl)] and 1.1-2mol of succinic acid (anhydride) or 18C or lower alkyl or alkenyl deriv. at 60-220 deg.C in the presence of an acid catalyst. The condensation may be carried out in a solvent such as benzene. The resin compsn. is obtained by adding 0.7-6pts.wt. polyester to 100pts.wt. petroleum resin (e.g. resin with a softening point of 60-150 deg.C obtained by polymerizing, in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst, an unsatd. hydrocarbon-contg. fraction produced as byproduct of cracking and refining of petroleum).
