PURPOSE:To obtain a white fluorine-contained resin having low molecular weight useful as a lubricant, releasing agent, etc., having a controlled molecular weight, in high yield,by bringing a fluorine-contained polymer into contact with a fluorine-containing fluorine compound at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. fluorine-contained polymer such as powder,f pellet, scrap of sheet or polytetrafluoroethyllene, or filler-containing polytetraluoroethylene having small particle diameter is subjected to a contact reaction with <=0.01pt.wt. calculated as F of a nitrogen-containing fluorine compound such as NF3, N2F4, etc., which is stable at normal temperature, at 250-550 deg.C, preferably at 350-500 deg.C to give the aimed compound (wax) having improved lubricating activity, low surface energy, etc-. EFFECT:Since decomposition is carried out in the presence of active fluorine radical, the end of the reaction product is made into CF3, the reaction product is extremely stable, carbon will not precipitate at all, the aimed white compound is obtained,and it is easily pulverized.
