The invention relates to a method for the detection of leakages from electrochemical cells having a nonaqueous electrolyte and alkali metal or alkaline earth metal anodes. Materials leaking from such cells form acids when coming into contact with the atmosphere, and these are detected by applying to the surface of such cells a coating containing an acid base indicator in a suitable carrier, preferably an adhesive. |
