PURPOSE:To adjust an optical system easily and speedily by dividing an optical system into plural units about acousto-optic elements and adjusting the whole body after adjusting the respective units. CONSTITUTION:A laser light source 1, mirror 2, optical system 3, and acousto- optic element 4 are mounted on the 1st adjusting plate 11, and an optical system 5, mirror 6, rotary polygon mirror 7, and ftheta lens system 8 are placed on the 2nd adjusting plate 12. The 1st and the 2nd adjusting plates 11 and 12 are provided to a substrate 10 so that their positions are adjustable. Thus, principal optical elements of a laser recording optical system are unitized on the 1st adjusting plate 11 and the 2nd adjusting plate 12 respectively, and consequently the adjusting plates 11 and 12 are arranged on the substrate 10 after the optical systems of the respective units are adjusted independently, thereby adjusting relative arrangements of the adjusting plates 11 and 12 on the substrate 10 in the diffraction direction of light by the element 4.
