PURPOSE:To obtain composite material superior in high temp. mechanical characteristic, by combining metal and ceramic dissolvable with each other and hot working them to form a compd. CONSTITUTION:Metal and ceramic are combined so that mother phase metal and added ceramic are dissolved mutually or brought to react with each other to compose composite material. As mother phase metal, Ni base alloy, Co base alloy, Cr bearing alloy, Al base alloy, Ti base alloy are used, and particle diameter is regulated to <=about 50mu. As ceramic SiC, Si3N4, Al2O3 are used, particle diameter is made <=about 10mu, and added about 0.5-50% in vol. ratio. The composite material is hot extruded at about 400-4,000cm/min rate to compact composite material contg. ceramic of high vol. fraction. By this way, composite material suitable to heat resisting structural material requiring strength and toughness at high temp. is obtd.
