PURPOSE:To position the cassette satisfactorily with a construction without damaging the dust-proof by hiding the pin inserting port to engage to a position regulating pin when a tape cassette is fitted to a magnetic recording reproducing device when the tape cassette is not used, and exposing the port when it is used. CONSTITUTION:In the process to fit a tape cassette 1 to a magnetic recording reproducing device, a cover body 2B is turned and opened to 90 deg., and interlocking to this, a sliding body 3 is slided to a prescribed distance in the X1 direction of an arrow, part of it is pulled out from a case 2A, position regulating pins 13a and 13b, and 15a and 15b are fitted to inserting holes 12a and 12b, and 14a and 14b and the tape cassette 1 is positioned and mounted. On the other hand, when the cassette is not used, the sliding body 3 is slided to maximum in the X2 direction of an arrow, stored completely into the case 2, at a notch part 10 a bottom plate of a case 2A is closed, holes 17a and 17b for inserting reel shafts of the bottom plate and reel shaft inserting ports 18a and 18b of a substrate 4 are completely dislocated, the holes 17a and 17b are closed by the substrate 4, the holes 12a and 12b, and 14a and 14b are closed by the bottom plate, the cover body 2B is closed and a closed case is obtained.
