PURPOSE:To enable highly accurate measurement of tilt angle, by arranging first-third electrodes composing a capacitor and a guard electrode surrounding all of these electrodes on the wall surface of a container holding a liquid with a single bubble having a convexly curved surface on the top thereof. CONSTITUTION:A container 1 made of insulating material such as glass ha a bubble tube filled with a low-viscosity liquid 3 so as to form a single bubble 2. The container 1 is so arranged as to have a cured surface with a curvature along the length thereof on the upper inner surface thereof and supported in a shield case 4 with leg members 5a and 5b. A first electrode 6 is provided on the outer surface of the container 1 in the range of about 170 deg. below the central portion corresponding to about two-third of the overall length-wise length and a second electrode 7 and a third electrode 8 in the range of about 170&o thereabove facing the electrode 6 as separated from each other. In addition, a guard electrode 9 surrounding the electrodes 6-8 is provided. The tilt angle can be measured at a high accuracy from the capacity of capacitors composed of the electrodes 6 and 7 and 6 and 8.
