PURPOSE:To prevent the disconnection of an arc during welding and to improve weldability by providing a slope of a specified angle with respect to the side edge of a stud body consisting of a plate or angle material to the end face on the welding side of the stud body. CONSTITUTION:The slope 3 is formed on the welding side end face of the stud body 1 consisting of the plate or angle material from one end to the other end of the end face so as to have the angle theta=85-60 deg. with respect to the side edge 2 of the body. Such body 1 is held to an electrode holder of a welding machine and an arc shield 4 is fitted to the top end of the stud, then electricity is conducted thereto. The arc is generated between the stud and the base metal by pulling upward slightly the body 1 alone and both the stand and base metal are quickly press welded automatically when a suitable molten pool is generated. The stud is thus welded to the base metal. Then the arc spreads uniformly and gradually oven the entire part from the top end of the inclination and the satisfactory stud welding is executed without disconnection of the arc.
