PURPOSE:To enable the separation and the selection due to several kinds of layers by providing separately both an apparatus easy in the specific gravity selection and an apparatus exhibiting the characteristics of a classifier wherein a grain is separated by utilizing the difference of the settling velocity due to the weight of the grain. CONSTITUTION:When introducing raw sand to the inside of a rotary classifier 4, it falls firstly into a layer C and the greater parts of sand sink downward and the light fine sand and the wood waste flow together water to the layers B, A from the layer C. The fine sand somewhat weighty in the specific gravity sinks under the layer A and is sent back to the layer B and elevated upto an upper part with a scraping-up plate and allowed to fall and transferred to a layer D with a chute G. The sand is transferred in the direction opposite to the flow of water and the flow of water is caused from the layer D to the layer C, B and the dirt of water of the layers becomes little as the layer C is positioned in the upstream of the layers B and the layer D is positioned in the upstream of the layer C and therefore the sludge is hardly incorporated in the layer D.
