PURPOSE:To easily control front and back surface baking states at low equipment cost, in baking a film in a catenary oven, by regulating a catenary amount to relatively change the distance between each of front and back surfaces of the strip and a hot air blow-off part. CONSTITUTION:The strip 10, wherein the front and back surfaces thereof are coated with a Cr-containing semi-org. coating solution in a coating apparatus 12, receives hot air from hot air blow-off parts 16A, 16B while runs through a catenary type drying and baking furnace 14. The baked states of the films are detected by baking state detectors 18A, 18B and the difference between the front and back surfaces is operated by a differential operator 22A. When there is the output of the operator 22A, a set catenary amount is altered by a catenary amount setting device 22B and the bridal motors 24, 26 at the inlet and outlet sides of the oven are controlled by speed-setting devices 22C, 22D to alter the catenary amount to uniformize front and back baking states.
