PURPOSE:To obtain image information with short attenuation time and large signal output and to read a radiation image having high space resolution with a radiation image reader for which accelerated luminous light of CsI:Na is used by utilizing the UV component of the accelerated luminous light. CONSTITUTION:The accelerated luminous light having the wavelength ranging >=290nm and <=360nm is utilized in the radiation image information reader which reads the radiation image by recording the radiation image on an accelerated luminous fluorescent film constituted of CsI as a base body, subjecting the record to optical scanning, converting the record to the accelerated luminous light corresponding to the image from the fluorescent film and converting the accelerated luminous light to an electric signal. The radiation image information reader is constituted of a radiation generating source 1, a copying body 2, the accelerated luminous fluorescent film 3, a temp. control part 4, a light beam 5 for reading, an accelerated luminous light detector 6 and an image processing display part 7.
