PURPOSE:To prevent malfunction due to a data error of a magnetic recording and reproducing device caused by overwrite by increasing a write current when the data error takes place and writing a new data after the data written previously is erased. CONSTITUTION:A recording circuit 7 is provided with a means increasing a recording current by an output of an erase register 13. Further, an erase circuit 8 is provided with a means outputting a signal to erase a data on a magnetic disc to the recording circuit 7. The verification is executed by allowing an FDC 12 to read a data from a magnetic disc and to detect whether or not there is an error by means of the CRC (cyclic redundancy check) for error detection by itself, or to receive a data read by a CPU thereby checking whether or not the data is written correctly. The CPU gives an instruction of erasure to the erase register 13 through a bus line 3.
