PURPOSE:To enable the adjusting of thickness direction of a slab and to obtain the slab having a various size by controlling thickness of an aperture part of a slab guide supporting apparatus to an optimum value by a signal from a mold corresponding to a changed thickness of the mold. CONSTITUTION:A long side wall part 1 of the mold and the slab guide supporting member as a reference side (a cooling grid 13 and supporting roll group 16) are not shifted during changing the slab thickness of the mold. It is set as TMT and TMB for distances of the thickness direction at a top part and bottom part of the mold before changing the slab thickness respectively, and as TS for the distance of the thickness direction at the slab guide supporting apparatus followed with the mold. At changing the thickness, such as TMT TMT' and TMB TMB' during pouring (or during pausing) by changing the long side part 2 of the mold of the movable side, a signal of DELTATS=TS'-TS (TS' is a cavity thickness after changing the thickness of the slab guide apparatus) is outputted to actuators 15 for the movable side slab guide supporting member (a cooling grid 14 and supporting roll group 17) by a controlling apparatus, so as to keep the slab passage to suitable distance of the thickness.
