PURPOSE:To attain high-density recording by raising the temperature of a base body in the initial stage of magnetic layer formation to the highest temperature in the process of this magnetic layer formation. CONSTITUTION:A high polymer film 5 is wound off from a take up roll 3; and when the deposition of Co-Cr is started in the front of a sputter gun 6, the temperature of the base body rises to a high temperature momently because the film 5 is not brought into contact with a cooling roll 2, but the film 5 is brought into contact with the cooling roll 2 immediately, and the temperature falls remarkably and is approximately fixed to a certain value. When the film 5 is transported and the deposition of Co-Cr is stopped, the temperature of the base body falls furthermore. A Co-Cr thin film medium formed in this manner has a very good magnetic property and is provided with the high vertical anisotropy and a proper magnetic resistance.
