PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of loading due to powdery matter, by installing a transfer hopper, which is provided with a built-in sieve and tiled and energized by weight of massive matter on the sieve, in an edge of a feed conveyor, and charging a powdery and massive mixture in this hopper. CONSTITUTION:A transfer hopper 2 is installed in an edge of a feed conveyor 1. A sieve 3 is installed in an upper part of this transfer hopper 2, and supported rotatably around a shaft 5 somewhat upperward from the center of gravity of this hopper 2. In a lower part of the hopper 2, there are provided with delivery conveyors 6 and 7. When a powdery and massive mixture (a) is charged into the hopper 2 from the conveyor 1, powdery matter a1 passes through the sieve 3 and drops on the conveyor 6. Massive matter a2 is left behind on the sieve 3, and when it reaches the specified quantity, the hopper 2 rotates clockwise and projects the massive matter a2 onto the delivery conveyor 7, whereby the hopper 2 is restored to its original position with its own weight. While the hopper is tilting, the conveyor 1 comes to a stop. With this constitution, any loading due to the powdery matter is prevented from occurring, and separation of these powdery and massive bodies is carried out, thus handling capacity is improved.
