PURPOSE:To improve a welding quality by controlling welding conditions by providing a later period flash voltage setting means and upset current setting means between an electric source transformer and welding transformer connected to secondary side. CONSTITUTION:The material to be welded is fixed to welding electrodes 5a, 5b and a gate signal is fed to the thyristor of a phase control switch 6 to form ON state. The later period flash voltage of comparatively low voltage is outputted from the secondary side of the welding transformer when the preheating between welding end parts is completed. An upsetting is then performed by passing a high current with the phase control switch 10 for upsetting being made in ON state at the time when the welding end face becomes in the state of being covered by a metallic vapor and welding metal. In this way, a good weld zone can be obtd.
