PURPOSE:To register a message of the most important job with priority to a telephone set having a message registration already by providing message class information to each telephone set in an automatic private branch of exchange and providing the priority relating to the message registration. CONSTITUTION:Telephone sets 1-4 each having a display window and a message lamp are accommodated in a main switch 9 via subscriber circuits 5-8 for each telephone set control. For example, in calling the telephone set 1 from the telephone set 2, in case no response comes or the telephone set 2 is busy, a message registration special number is dialed. If the message is registered from the telephone set 3 to the telephone set 1, message class information of the telephone sets 2,3 is read from a message class information storage device 12 by a central controller 10. When it is judged that the priority of the telephone set 2 is high, the message from the telephone set 3 is eliminated and the message from the telephone set 2 is registered in the message storage device 11 as the message to the set 1 and the elimination of the message is displayed in the display window of the telephone set 3.
