PURPOSE:The titled coating material, obtained by using protein as an electrically conductive binder and dispersing powdery carbon as an electrically conductive component in a rubber latex, usable by a coating method without using a solvent and having improved electric conductivity. CONSTITUTION:An electrically conductive rubber latex coating material, consisting of (A) 75pts. powdery carbon, preferably natural fine powdery carbon (a carbon paste obtained by adding water and a surfactant to water and kneading the resultant blend may be used as necessary), (B) rubber latex, preferably one-pack type rubber (e.g. SBR, etc.) latex in an amount of 30-140pts.wt. expressed in terms of solid and (C) 2-8pts. protein, rich in water-containing property and having improved water holding property, e.g. gelatin or glue, etc., and obtained by, e.g. dispersing the component (A) in small portions in a gelatin solution in hot water, adding the component (B) when the dispersion attains a complete pasty form, thoroughly stirring the resultant mixture and adding water, as necessary. An adherend is then coated with the resultant dispersion and dried to form an electrically conductive film.
