PURPOSE:To easily check an inputted character string, by pronouncing a word when the word is discriminated as proper one and outputting prescribed voices when the word is discriminated as improper one. CONSTITUTION:A character string inputted from an input means M1 and stored in a character string means M2 is read out in the unit of word by means of a reading-out means M3 and the read-out word is compared with language information which is previously stored on a dictionary storing means M4 and contains correct spellings of words. A discriminating means M5 discriminates whether or not a word is proper in accordance with the compared results. When a read-out word is discriminated as proper one, the word is pronounced as it is by a voice output means M6 and, when the word is discriminated as improper one, prescribed voices are outputted. Therefore, the checking of a character string can be performed while watching a document even when the document exists in advance. Accordingly, the working efficiency can greatly be improved.
