A television receiver with a television tuner (1) is provided for receiving television signals (S1) of a standard transmission standard and additionally for receiving television signals (S3) for a transmission standard in which the position of the picture carrier and of the sound carrier is exchanged compared with the standard frequency position within the transmission channel. For this purpose, the television tuner contains a converter circuit (16) which is connected by means of electronic change-over switches (6, 7) with its input to the antenna line (4) of the television tuner and with its output to the signal input (9) of a mixer circuit (10) of the television tuner, instead of a standard RF input circuit (8). These measures do not create any additional reduction in the receiving characteristics of the television tuner when the converter is operated.
