PURPOSE:To make the best use of the effective availability of a coating solvent and attach mass production property, by confronting and bonding two sheets of substrates on which membranes are formed with a bonding agent directly or through a spacer, and after that removing the membranes being exposed on the outer surface plane of the substrate after cleaning being applied. CONSTITUTION:The substrate on which a functional film is coated is constituted in such way that it is constituted for recording and reproducing both planes by setting the recording film planes of two sheets of substrates inward respectively, and bonding them with the bonding agent directly or through the spacer, or a protecting substrate or film is bonded on the recording plane of one substrate with the bonding agent directly or through the spacer, or protecting resin is coated. Since the optical recording medium is set in a state where the functional film is coated on its outer surface plane, it is shifted to a cleaning process next, and after cleaning, the functional film is removed. In such way, the membrane remaining in the inside after cleaning is blocked from the outside, and can be used as a protected functional film, and also, since manufacturing process can be performed continuously, mass production is realized.
