PURPOSE:To improve the processing efficiency of an image by permitting an access control means to allow or forbid access to a display memory and to an output memory. CONSTITUTION:A new memory 6 is added to the display memory 2. Besides to that, the image memory 2 and the memory 6 are placed in the same space (address). Gates 7 and 8 and a memory control part 9 which controls the gates are prepared to switch the memories to an accessible or inaccessible state. Therefore a CPU 1 simultaneously writes the same data in the image memory 2 and in the memory 6 at the time of writing data. The data in the image memory 2 is displayed on a CRT 3 by a CRT controller 4 and the contents of the memory 6 are outputted to a printer 5. Thus, even while the image is printed, images can be edited without destructing the former image and hence the processing efficiency is improved.
