PURPOSE:To make a high speed navigation of the catamaran in the caption possible during navigation on smooth water by providing an air chamber at the outside of each single shell, an opening hole portion at the lower end of said chamber and a vent tube at the upper end, having a three way valve which can freely change over the connection from said chamber to the atmosphere or to a compressed air generating device located in a vessel. CONSTITUTION:In the case of navigation on smooth water, three way valves 6 are set to connect air chambers 3 to compressed air generating chambers 7 for supplying compressed air to the air chambers 3 to discharge ballast water such as sea water staying in the air chambers 3 from opening hole portions 4 to outside. As the result, the air chambers 3 work as floating tanks to float a vessel body 1 so much. Under this condition, if a propelling device is driven to increase speed, the vessel body 1 comes in a gliding condition because the bottom face of each single shell works as a gliding face. Accordingly, the vessel body 1 gets further floating and the opening hole portions 4 are exposed above the surface of the water so that the sea water does not flow into the air chambers 3. Therefore, the operation of the compressed air generating device 7 is stopped at this moment. Like this, the vessel body 1 glides on the surface of the water so that a high speed navigation becomes possible by a small horse power.
