PURPOSE:To enable an operator to quickly know the processing progress of a hard copy through the display on a screen, by displaying the processing state of a print-out job on the screen. CONSTITUTION:When the production is through with the image data on an entire screen, a hard copy control part 6 delivers an output instruction of a single line to a hard copy output control part 4. The part 4 delivers the data produced by an image data producing part 3 to an output device 7 by an amount equal to a single line and sends an end report to the part 6. Thus the part 6 gives an instruction to a screen inversion control part 5 to invert the received data equivalent to a single line. As a result, the image data on an area which undergone the hard copy processing is displayed with inversion on a CRT. At the same time, a hard copy is obtained in a printer form. Such processing is repeated to quickly know the processing progress of the hard copy.
