PURPOSE:To reduce the passage loss of light and to assemble an optical temperature sensor nearly without any adjustment by aligning the optical fibers of two optical fibers whose end surface are set opposite each other by using an optical connector plug, and operating, a light shielding plate by using shape memory alloy. CONSTITUTION:The tip parts of the optical fibers 8a and 8b are soldered fixedly to ferrules 9a and 9b of the optical connector plug, and the tips of the ferrules 9a and 9b are held in the adapter 13 of the optical connector opposite each other. Consequently, the optical axes of the optical fibers are aligned mechanically with each other. Then a coil spring 11 compresses a coil 12 made of shape memory alloy at room temperature to press a movable member 10 down and light is transmitted from the optical fiber 8a to the optical fiber 8b at this time. When the ambient temperature rises above constant temperature, the shape memory alloy 12 generates a force for restoration to its original shape and compresses the spring 11 to press the movable member 10 up. Then, the shielding plate 14 provided to its tip is put between the end surfaces of the fibers 8a and 8b, so the light transmission between both fibers is cut off.
