PURPOSE:To reduce the maintenance cost of a system, by transferring a bit of fault information from a remote device to a maintenance device via a switched exchange line only when a fault occurs by connecting a line. CONSTITUTION:A fault monitoring part 23, in the case of detecting the fault of a main body part 24, collects the fault information, and transfers it to a fault information transmission part 22, and issues the connection instruction of a switched telephone line 40 to an outgoing line control part 21. The outgoing line control part 21 monitors the return of a dial tone from a switched telephone network 30, and sends the subscriber number of the maintenance device 10 designated in advance as a dial signal. The switched telephone network 30 performs exchange connection, and sends a ringing to an incoming line control part 11, and returns a ringing back tone to the outgoing line control part 21. The incoming line control part 11, in the case of detecting the ringing, sends the off-hook of the switched telephone line 40, and issues reception indication to a fault information reception part 12. A fault information transmission part 22, in the case of receiving the indication of the delivery of information, sends a bit of discriminating information and the fault information to the switched telephone line 40.
