PURPOSE:To obtain high-quality vinyl chloride resin in copolymerizing a polyfunctional monomer having an ethylenic double bond in the molecule with vinyl chloride, by adding a specific amount of a specific compound before starting of the copolymerization. CONSTITUTION:In producing a vinyl chloride copolymer by copolymerizing preferably 0.05-10wt.% polyfunctional monomer (e.g. polyethylene glycol diacrylate, diallyl adipate, etc.) containing two more more ethylenic double bonds in the molecule with vinyl chloride, 0.1-1.0 based on sum of the monomers of a compound shown by formula Mg(1-x)Alx(OH)2(CO3)x/2.mH2O (x<=1; m<=1) is added to the reaction system before starting of copolymerization. The surface of molded article shows flexible matte state, the vinyl chloride copolymer does not change into yellow during processing and has extremely increased heat stability.
