PURPOSE:To reduce an interlayer insulator in a slot and to improve the productivity of a pole change type rotary electric machine by setting the number (q) of slots per high speed one pole of an armature winding to q=A+1/1(where A: even number), and composing one phase high speed poles of the number (A/2+1) of coils and the sets of the number of the coils of A/2. CONSTITUTION:In a 4/8 pole change type 3-phase induction motor, as shown, the number of slots is 30 and q=2+1/2. Each coil group consists of a set of an outer coil of 5 of coil pitch and an inner coil of 3 of coil pitch concentrically disposed, and a set of only a coil of 4 of coil pitch. Accordingly, a section to become a single layer winding contained at one coil side in each slot and a section to become a double-layer winding are formed. Then, the single-layer winding is increased to reduce an interlayer insulator in a lot. Further, since only the number of the coils of 3/5 may be sufficient, the steps of incorporating the coils in the slots can be largely alleviated, thereby improving the productivity.
