PURPOSE:To enable thermal accumulation to be kept at its hot temperature condition by a method wherein a solid particle type thermal accumulator is composed of a container containing solid particles acting as thermal medium placed on a gas dispersion plate, a filter or cyclone and a gas circulation system having a blower. CONSTITUTION:A gas dispersion plate 2 is placed at a bottom part of a container 1 and thermal medium 3 acting as heat-resistant particles is placed over the gas dispersion plate. The upper part of the container is provided with a filter 5 or a cyclone so as to prevent thermal heating medium 3 from being accompanied with air and dispersed. When a surplus electrical power is generated, a blower 9 is started to operate to circulate air through the container 1 and a circulation pipe 8. As the amount of circulation is gradually increased, the thermal medium 3 may form a fluidized bed. Particles in the fluidized bed state have a high thermal conductivity. If they are heated by a heater 6, they may easily show a high temperature. After the particles are heated up to their desired temperature, a blower 9 is stopped, resulting in that the particles may return to their solid state and then their thermal accumulation under a high temperature can be attained. A valve in an air suction pipe 10 and a valve in a hot air blowing discharging pipe 11 are opened, and as the blower 9 is started to operate, the air sucked through the air sucking pipe 10 is heated by a thermal medium 3 and then discharged as hot air from a hot air discharging pipe 11.
