PURPOSE:To easily adjust pitching and rolling of a magnetic head by supporting the head on a carriage side member so that the height of the head can be adjusted by four flat springs and providing the side member so that its height can be adjusted independently. CONSTITUTION:A flat spring 20 which fixes a magnetic head 12 has four supporting legs 20A-20D, and supporting screws 26A-26D in front ends of these legs are engaged with an azimuth adjusting plate 30 of the carriage side member. A transverse adjusting plate 40 is placed under and in parallel with the adjusting plate 30 and is fitted to a shaft 41 and is arranged on a carriage 13 and can be turned and shaked around the shaft 41. The gap position and the azimuth are adjusted by adjusting plates 30 and 40 and rolling and pitching are adjusted by adjustment of the height of engagement of supporting screws 26A-26D with the adjusting plate 30. Thus, pitching and rolling are easily adjusted without changing relative positions of adjusting plates 30 and 40 and the head 12.
