PURPOSE:To row a boat to effectively advance, by dividing a paddle into two parts actuating their mutually opposed both end parts being associated with each other through gears and turning a handle part and a water paddling part to be symmetrically reciprocated in a plane. CONSTITUTION:A boat provides in its both side walls 7 a holding structure part 6 so that it is able to vertically swivel by pins 5. A paddle is divided into two of a handle part 1 and a water paddling part 2 being respectively connected to fitting connection parts 1', 2' provided in the holding structure part 6. Further the paddle provides gears 3 to be mounted and meshed with each other respectively in mutually opposed end parts of the handle part 1 and the water paddling part 2. Under this condition, if the handle part 1 is turned to the upper, the water paddling part 2 is placed in the water, and if a rower pulls the handle part 1 toward a side of the rower, the water paddling part 2 moves in a direction of the side of the rower by the gears 3 advancing the boat in the forward direction of the rower. The boat, in which control force of the paddle is larger when it is pulled than when it is pressed, also increases the advancing force larger.
